Expert Consular Process Immigration Consulting
What Is the Consular Process (DS-260)?
The Consular Process is the pathway to obtain U.S. lawful permanent residency (a Green Card) for individuals who are outside the United States. After an immigrant petition (like Form I-130 or I-140) is approved, the case is transferred to the National Visa Center (NVC), and the applicant must complete Form DS-260, the Immigrant Visa Application.

This process involves:
Completing the online DS-260 form via the U.S. Department of State’s portal
Submitting civil and financial documents to the NVC
Attending a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country

Who Can Apply Through the Consular Process?
You may apply for an immigrant visa through consular processing if you:
Are outside the United States and have an approved immigrant petition (such as I-130 for family members or I-140 for employment-based cases)
Have a visa number available
Are seeking a Green Card through family sponsorship, employment, diversity lottery, or special immigrant categories

How to Apply To Consular Process
-
Petition Approval.
The process begins when USCIS approves your immigrant petition (e.g., I-130 or I-140). Your case is then sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). -
Pay NVC Fees.
Once the NVC receives your case, you must pay two required fees:
Immigrant Visa Application Fee.
Affidavit of Support Fee (if applicable).
We help you complete this step without errors to avoid delays. -
Complete Form DS-260.
This is your online immigrant visa application, and it must be completed carefully. You will provide personal, biographic, and immigration history information.
At AJM Immigration Consulting, we ensure your DS-260 is completed accurately and reviewed thoroughly before submission. -
Submit Civil and Financial Documents.
You must upload required documents to the NVC, including:
Passport biographic page.
Birth certificate.
Police clearance certificates.
Marriage or divorce certificates (if applicable).
Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and sponsor financial evidence.
We guide you in gathering all necessary documents according to U.S. Department of State standards. -
Attend Visa Interview at U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Once your documents are approved and your interview is scheduled, you’ll attend an interview at your local U.S. embassy or consulate. A consular officer will determine your eligibility for the immigrant visa.
We help you prepare with mock interviews, document checklists, and personalized advice. -
Receive Your Visa and Travel to the U.S.
If approved, you’ll receive your immigrant visa in your passport, along with a sealed visa packet. You can then travel to the U.S., where you'll be admitted as a lawful permanent resident.
